Manchester from the 23rd (Nisis DV5)
A picture from the Executive Lounge on the 23rd floor of the Hilton hotel in Manchester. A bit of a misty day in some respects. Off in the distance you can see the Town Hall, the Midland Hotel and the Raddison. In the foreground there's GMEX and in the middle you can actually see into the top of the Library, though it's not very clear on this photo. The picture doesn't do the view justice, but it's weirdly not that frightening being so high up. Since everything looks so far away it's almost impossible to comprehend which is good. There were a few moments I felt uncomfortable but on the whole it was quite interesting. It's a pity we didn't go back up to the Longe when it was dark, it would have been interesting but there was a Jacuzzi to try, a TV in the bathroom to play with and a mini bar to raid and I didn't want to spread myself too thin..

Hole in the Floor (Nisis DV5)
Not a great picture I must admit, but then again Zamyatin is not all about great pictures as you can tell, this time it's about a bad picture of a hole in the floor. This hole is actually 23 floors up in the Hilton hotel in Manchester looking down at the street below where the Spanish language Institute is. Like I say, not a great picture so there's nothing much to say really apart from this was taken from the Executive Lounge. I don't know if there are any other holes anywhere in the 23rd floor for people have a look at how high they are up I just noticed this one.

Arch in Trentham (Nisis DV5)
I saw this arch and decided it might look like a good picture and I don't think it went to badly even though I say so myself. It's a view from the house (I think it's a house, we didn't get to Trentham Gardens to late so we had little time to look around) looking towards the massive lake. It would have been good to look more around the house though there was little time.

Trentham Italian Gardens (Nisis DV5)
More pictures of Italian gardens, this time not in Heaver Castle but as the title suggests in Trentham Gardens. As you can see by the picture it was a quite nice and sunny day. What you can't see is that it was a little cold but still nice enough. With only an hour to go before the gardens closed there wasn't much time to look around, so perhaps they will be worth another look when the weather is warmer and when we can get there earlier.

Monkeying About (Nisis DV5)
Here's a picture of a one of the many Barbary Macaques at the Trentham Monkey Forest. I have loads of other pictures but bearing in mind that they are also just pictures of monkeys I shall not post any more. They have a load of monkeys wandering about the forest all minding their own business whilst visitors troll around the paths watching them.
It's a good place to go if you like monkeys but apart from Monkeys there's nothing else to see, though the people who walk around who work there are very helpful and do help out by explaining stuff about individual monkeys, though I suspect mainly they are there to protect the people from the monkeys and protect the monkeys from the people.

Jodrell Bank Revisited (Nisis DV5)
Yes again it's a slow picture week, busy busy busy. This has to change soon as I'm getting tired of trawling through old pictures to put up, I'd much prefer to get out there and actually take some.
Here's a picture of the side of the dish at Jodrell Bank, I think it's a matter of taste put I like the part shot here rather than trying to get the whole thing in I think it makes it more interesting. It could of course be mistaken for a bad picture... you decide.

Llandudno Promenade (Nisis DV5)
Ah it's archive pictures again back from July 2006, so as you can guess it's been a busy week and the weekends have not been my own to go out and take something interesting which is pretty poor, even this weekend has been taken over by others and so with the expectation that tomorrow should be no difference, I decided to run an archive so that at least there's something different here at least every two weeks.
So here's a picture of Llandudno's Promenade. It was a pretty warm day as you can see by the picture, I seem to remember this was also the day my brother and his wife attempted to fold their pop-up tent back into the back it popped-up from. The whole process appears to be simple but thirteen minutes later wire cutters were looking preferable.

Conway at Dusk (Nisis DV5)
Another picture of the walls though you can't make them out too much with the contrast. As you can see the tide was out so you can see the footprints of animals taking advantage of the lack of water. On the left there's the castle and in the middle the town.

Castle Walls (Nisis DV5)
Here's a picture of Castle Walls in Conway, it's a strange place, the town is still surrounded by the walls and very little overspill, also on the way in it almost looks like the walls are still there to fortify the town with the main road running straight at the castle with water on each side. Unfortunately getting a good picture of the castle from the road is impossible (for me as I tried several times).

Interesting Building (Nisis DV5)
Now this doesn't seem like an interesting picture in many ways other that it's lit with a low winter sun which again isn't interesting to most. The great thing about the winter sun is that it causes quite a bit of contrast, something that I'd love to have captured around Pendle Hill but never got the chance.
No the interesting thing about this picture is the sundial on the building instead of the clock. Personally I don't know how this works but I can only assume it does. How the clock works being vertical is a mystery to me and I'm sure sundials have to be moved during the months to keep the accurate. Perhaps I'm wrong.
